I like to say that I'm a lover of anything that ignites any of my senses. And I'm fortunate that I've been able to make a career from my sense of sight. Although, truthfully, my success has a lot to do with how my vision inspires me.

Most of my profession has been in journalism, photographing everything from portraits to documentary projects, with a detour into marketing and event photography. I spent 22 years at The Palm Beach Post, as a photojournalist, photo editor, web producer, video editor and multimedia producer. (I even wrote a wine column with three other women, called Swirl Girls.)

What captivates me about photography is the ability to capture a moment in time and preserve it. What challenges me is trying to capture it so that it expresses the feeling I have while in that moment.

Journalism became a passion for me for its ability to "comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable." I've always had a great sense of fulfillment knowing that were it not for my images, or those of any photojournalists anywhere in the world, the community and society at large would not be able to witness events, be they tragic or uplifting.

My attraction to videography and editing is in the ability to craft narration with the multiple components of images, sound and text. I'm able to take my vision to a different state and experiment with greater creative control with the telling of the story.

Visual storytelling not only preserves, but elicits emotion and effects change, as well. Whether in laughter or tears, I want people to remember what they saw, what they felt when they saw it, and be encouraged to act.
